Brain matters

Went for a scheduled MRI in Nov. Went for the consultation in Dec. For the first time, I saw for myself the actual size of the blood clot and its location in my brain. Didn't think it actually took up that much space as previously thought. It was right in the middle. The technology that comes with MRI is marvellous... little wonder why it costs so dearly...

I saw my consultant clicked at lightning speed the different pictures of my brain scans pictures to reveal the different angles and showed me the comparisons and improvement. I saw that no matter he showed the right or left part of the brain, I seem to see the clot at both sides. It was indeed smacked right in the middle... Strike lottery (as if I buy) also not as accurate!

Still, I thank God that the blood clot has diminished quite a lot. Doc said recovery varies. Some takes months; some takes years. A lot also depends on whether there is scarring after the blood clot totally heals. Hope it will be good news by the next review in March.

Strangely, I thought I have been able to detect a particular strange smell at times. It is most obvious whenever I take the first bite of meat.. It's the same taste when earlier on I took the first bite of food and a weird taste came on (and also left as quickly as it came).

A kind friend has referred his neurologist friend for me to raise any Q&A. Felt shy to go to his clinic (which is in hospital). After some time, he ended up calling me up! Free phone consultatation! Wow... His feel, after hearing my story, is that my brain may be in the process of trying to make sense of my taste and smell senses. Hmm... I wonder for how long more?

Since this incident, I have not been keen to bake or cook. Felt weird that I can't smell. Well, some day, I will get to it.
