Has it been a while since I last update abt my brain? ok.. tink it will sound weird for those who haven't read my previous post 'Ward 10A, Bed 28'. Anyway, there's been some development abt my taste since some mths ago. Food, most of the time, for the initial tastes, tasted weird. Perhaps I should be thankful that the injury has not affected my taste drastically. I learnt that if the impact on my head had indeed been at the back of my head (which was where the bumps were), it would have affected other more important senses, like vision, and motor skills, if I recall correctly.
Still, as time goes by, my taste sense is also 'evolving'. Do you know my favourite chocolate also tasted different now? Ok, thankfully not 100% though. Earlier, I have thought it changed because I just came back from US where the chocolate tasted different!
Just an hour ago, I ate bread with minced hardboiled egg with mayo. Ereghh... the smell and taste felt like rust! ;{ I was also wondering if the egg has been kept in the fridge for too long. *Sigh* Although these 2 senses did not impact as negatively as would have been for the other senses, sometimes it does really got me down and flustered!
Saw my neruologist last wk (2nd review appt). Would not need to see him again. Good and bad. Bad cos' there's nothing much he can do in the future anyway. Good in the sense that my brain smell senses are improving. Seems like the 'neighouring' cells near the injured ones are replicating the original smell function. Or so that's what the doc said. 3 mths back, I can't even smell a thing! At least for now, I can smell at least 1 type, however pungent it may be and affect my taste. Doc said my taste cells were intact.
Ok, that's abt what I wanna update abt my brain. Hope I will be able to post better news next round.
